NCS Championship Camps

This spring, the NCS will be launching its Championship Camps in a few select cities across the country.  The first Championship Camp will be in Atlanta, Georgia on April 27th.

This NCS Championship Camp is a one-day event that provides:

  • An official evaluation using NCS' objective and proprietary Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System.
  • Professional instruction by retired NFL kickers and punters who now coach specialists on a regular basis
  • Competition that teaches you to manage pressure situations
  • An opportunity to get selected for the US Army All American Game
These Championship Camps are an integral part of the complete NCS system which objectively rates players for colleges and universities by utilizing its unique Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System. Having collected data from our events over the past 10 years, our algorithm takes key variables into account when computing our ratings.

Having the opportunity to get instruction by retired NFL players who have succeeded at all levels of football, be accurately and fairly evaluated using our Kicking IndeX (KIX) Player Rating System, and getting to compete will be invaluable.

Craig Hentrich in Action
Myself, along with retired NFL Punter, Craig Hentrich, will personally be at the Atlanta Championship Camp evaluating as well as providing instruction. We both feel very confident that the student-athletes will walk away from this camp with a great understanding of technique and how to train professionally to improve their game.

Craig punted in the NFL for 17 years and played in two Super Bowls.  Not only was he an excellent punter, but he also kicked field goals and kickoffs.  Being accomplished at all three in the NFL is no easy task.  Being able to precisely teach these techniques at our Championship Camps will be great.

Retired NFL Punter Craig Hentrich
On May 19th, the next NCS Championship Camp will in Dallas, Texas.  This time, the retired NFL Punter that will be coaching with me will be Darren Bennett.  Darren was the first Australian to make it as a NFL Punter.  After playing 12 years in the AFL (Australian Football League), he came over to the US on his honeymoon and had a workout with the San Diego Chargers.  Even though he was "green", he had an explosive leg which prompted the Chargers to sign him.  He ended up on the practice squad for a season and then took over the punting job from there.  He ended up being name to the NFL's All Decade Team for the 90's.

Darren Bennett Letting One Fly
Darren first introduced the Aussie Drop Punt which is used for Inside the 20 "Pooch Punts."  The end over end back spin enables the ball to "check back" when it hits the ground.  Most punters are now using the technique.  However, most are being taught the technique slightly incorrectly.  If you watch any Australian that is punting, whether in the NFL or College, you will notice that they get way better hang time.  Having Darren teach the proper way to "Drop Punt" will be great at these Championship Camps.

Darren Bennett and Me Coaching in San Diego
Darren and I have coached several small camps and group sessions together in San Diego and I am looking forward to working with him at our Championship Camps.  Not only was he an amazing NFL Punter, but he is a great coach and event better person.

As for me, I am truly honored and eager to coach these NCS Championship Camps with both of these professionals.

I have been operating the NCS and Husted Kicking for several years now and know that Craig, Darren and myself all want to make sure that young specialists are taught the proper technique as well as share our experiences as NFL players, both good and bad, so that others may have the same opportunities as us.
